I guess I ought to start out with a definition of Affinity Marketing, especially affinity marketing by accounting practitioners.
Affinity Marketing, as I define it, is marketing to groups where the individuals have an affinity or loyalty of some sort. Most times it is an affinity for a cause or a belief, however there are times when the affinity can be an employer or a social club.

This marketing tactic is being used by Pam Schoelles of Schoelles & Associates, Inc., in Madison, Florida. Madison is essentially a small rural ton in the northern part of Florida. The type of community where a lot of business is done through referrals and recommendations. In other words, a lot of networking.
Pam brought this tactic to the group, and we spent the majority of one Rainmaker Brainstorming session refining the concept. It was received with enthusiasm and several variations were discussed.

Richard Lake was the member who suggested the idea of a place where we could share ideas and give feedback online. His idea resulted in this review section where members can post their ideas and get feedback. Of course, since this review process is for members, we’re keeping their ideas behind closed doors, unless the member is willing to let the world see their plans.

I'll get back to writing about some of my marketing successes and failures soon, but I wanted to throw this idea in before I forgot about it. It was discussed several times in our weekly Rainmaker Brainstorming sessions, and a lot of what I'm giving here is from memory. I'm thinking Mark W. will drop by soon and add his two-cents, as he's the one who generated such a success with the program.

Seems only fair that I start out the section where we review individual practitioner marketing campaigns by asking for ratings of a campaign perenial ... Cold Call Marketing and Canvassing. It may also help start us out with a model that members can use to submit their marketing ideas and plans for consideration, review and rating by the members.
